On the Roof with TRI Training – January 2016

The Importance of Proper Layout

some tools including a tape measurer“When I see a home with a tile roof, my first thought is, ‘Nice Roof’. A roof goes from ‘nice’ to ‘Wow, that roof is spectacular!’ when the installer pays attention to the details. Some details that make a difference are appropriate flashings, or chimney, skylight and wall metal work that is consistent and does not detract from the aesthetic look of the roof. However, nothing conveys the knowledge and skill of a craftsman more than crisp, clean, straight lines of tile – row after row.” – excerpt from Swing Tape and Layout Methods Make Tile Layout Easy, by John Jensen, Roofing Magazine, 11/23/2015. TRI Training at the Petersen Dean Sales Summit

people at a convention
PetersenDean Roofing & Solar invited TRI to teach a seminar on tile roofing at their annual Sales Summit in early January. We were impressed with PetersenDean’s organization and their commitment to training.

“TRI did one of the best roofing seminars that I have ever attended. The orientation to their training material, the big picture training topics, the visuals, and the hands-on reroof model all worked together to create a learning experience that was accessible to all. We met a month before our event to help TRI understand our organization, training objectives, and the variety of participants (with varying experience levels) that would be attending our sales conference. They crafted a training event that exceeded our goals, met our time constraints, and equipped all in attendance to take their next step forward in becoming more competent and confident reroof professional. I would highly recommend their training to anyone that would ask.” – Tim Ramage, Vice President of Consumer Sales, PetersenDean Roofing and Solar Corporate Division

About The Newsletter

At Eagle Roofing Products, we want to provide our partners and customers with as much valuable industry information and training opportunities as possible, which is why we routinely collaborate with the Tile Roofing Institute (TRI).

Founded in 1971, TRI has produced technical manuals on code language and preferred installation practices within all the major code bodies nationwide. TRI has played a major role in testing tile under severe weather and seismic conditions, as well as developing legislation of building codes. Here you will find their monthly newsletter, which is full of updates on training activities, technical tips and other news from the tile roofing industry.
